When you use WodaGoat, we collect two types of data:

A. Account Data (via Facebook, Google, or Email sign-up):

  Public Profile Information: Your name and profile picture to visually identify your votes and rankings on the platform.

  Email Address: Used strictly to verify your account, maintain your unique ranking history, and ensure platform security.

B. Usage Data (automatically, as you interact with the service):

  A unique internal user identifier (user_id) tied to your account, necessary to display your rankings, save your drafts, and personalize your experience across sessions.

  Anonymous session data (page visits, interactions, approximate country from IP) that helps us understand how our product is used and improve it.

  No third-party advertising or marketing trackers are loaded unless you explicitly accept them via our cookie banner.

2. Cookies & Analytics

WodaGoat uses three distinct categories of data collection, each with a different purpose:

  Essential cookies — required for you to log in, stay logged in, and use the service. These are always active. They include Supabase authentication cookies and your session identifier. Without them, the platform cannot function.

  First-party analytics (active by default) — we record anonymized interactions on our own servers (page views, ranking funnel steps, features used) with your internal user_id when you are logged in. This data never leaves our infrastructure and is used strictly to understand usage patterns and improve the product. We consider this data necessary for the legitimate operation and improvement of our service, as allowed under GDPR legitimate interest.

  Third-party analytics (opt-in) — tools like Amplitude are only activated if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. These help us with aggregate behavioral analysis but transfer some data to our analytics vendor. You can decline this at any time, and all existing features of WodaGoat will continue to work identically.

You can reset your cookie preferences at any time by clearing your browser's site data for WodaGoat.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is utilized strictly to run the WodaGoat engine. We use it to:

• ✓ Prevent bot activity and double-voting to maintain global data integrity.
• ✓ Display your username and avatar alongside your published leaderboards.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using enterprise-grade PostgreSQL encryption via Supabase. We respect your digital privacy as a core platform value. We do not, and will never, sell your personal data to third-party data brokers.
